Mahe is the largest island in the Seychelles, and the main island so it’s perfect for the arrivals, especially hungry arrivals! Whether you are planning to island hop or stay on the main island, there are plenty of food options to dig into. For now, let’s focus on Mahe with some of the most popular and oldest restaurants on the island. You really can’t go wrong with any option, there are some amazing creole restaurants all over the island.
This restaurant is a landmark of Victoria and one of the oldest restaurants in Mahe. They have now been around for over 50 years, which is an incredible feat. This restaurant is one of the best to enjoy some authentic creole cuisine, they also have really great sushi. The food is quite reasonably priced and its a very famous restaurant with tourists because of the warm, relaxed atmosphere and the comfort food dishes. You can stop by for lunch or dinner, either way be sure to put this one on your list. You will leave with a full, happy belly.
This restaurant is located across the street from one of the most popular beaches, Beau Vallon. It is open air and quite lively throughout the day and night. The flavors from this restaurant are delicious and there are plenty of buffet options to choose from. We highly recommend grilled fish or curry from the chef. It is an “all- you-can-eat-” fixed prix so something to note. Great for a beach day stop.
La plage is located directly on the beach, and if we are not mistaken, might be only restaurant to be front and center of Beau Vallon. You can come here for a nice light lunch or take in the stunning sunset views- they service great creole dishes and also some italian. Stop by for tapas and enjoy the beachside atmosphere- you won’t be disappointed!!
This place is special, you can get different vibes at this restaurant. Del Place can be super romantic on some evenings but at the same time come for weekend lunch and you get live music and energy. It is run by Seychellois and the food is so so tasty, either way this is a place to put on your list- you shouldn’t miss it on your trip to seychelles. Did I mention the views are stunning? Right by the ocean.
This place is located on the lovely Eden Island and is catered to those who want a more modern feel. It doesn't boast the same Seychellois authentic characteristics as the others, but it's a fab place with great views of the marina. There’s always a good atmosphere and we recommend the octopus curry!
Either way- Mahe has a ton of restaurants located all over the island for you to indulge in. These five are only a few. Stay tuned for more restaurants highlighted in Mahe, as well as the nearby Islands. We’ll be adding Praslin and La Digue after this :) Happy eating!
