One of the many features that makes Seychelles so unique are the bird species. With this special trait, birdwatching can be an amazing activity to do while you stay there. Here are a few reasons why birdwatching in Seychelles dominates the competition versus any other place.

Seychelles is home to a number of bird species and it has over 250 recorded varieties. Among these, several are native to the islands which makes Seychelles a special place for birdwatchers to visit. Some notable species include the Seychelles Black Parrot, Seychelles Bulbul, and the Seychelles Magpie Robin.


  1. Habitats:

Seychelles offers a variety of habitats, from rainforests to granite cliffs, providing different environments for these different species’. Vallée de Mai on Praslin Island, is a great example of a rainforest habitat that shelters rare and native birds. Birdwatchers can travel through different trails and see many different kinds of birds.

One of the highlights for birdwatchers in Seychelles is the chance to witness species found nowhere else on the planet. The Seychelles White-eye, Seychelles Fody, and Seychelles Warbler are just a few examples of the native birds with their distinctive characteristics and behaviors. Exploring the islands allows people to encounter these unique birds in their natural habitats.

Seychelles also serves as a pitstop for migratory birds, which makes it a must see destination for birdwatchers interested in observing the seasonal movements of birds. Numerous species, including terns, shearwaters, and frigatebirds, fly through Seychelles while migrating.
